Merz North #4 was held at University of York on Wednesday 23rd March, 2017.
This is a conference set up to support and encourage research and practice concerned with Kurt Schwitters.
For my presentation, I introduced my research into Kurt Schwitters and his peripatetic art practice and invited delegates to proceed to the library. They were generally very compliant.
Each Chapter related to a project undertaken in the first year of my PhD study into Nomadic Thinking in Art Practice.
I ‘scanned’ the Artist Book out, with the intention of the stolen book triggering the usual accompanying CLUNK noise. This didn’t materialise, neither did it trigger the alarm on leaving the library, which I had planned to assertively signal the end of the performance. I picked possibly the only book lacking a security device!
Back to traditional conference format, with questions stimulated by the intervention, photography and themes.
Many thanks to Vineta Gaillite for film and photographic documentary, to Heather Ross for SCH!!!!!!!!-ing and to delegates for playing along so graciously.
